RoSPA IART (rospaiart.ie) is an Irish group affiliated to RoSPA UK, The Royal Society for the Protection of Accidents.
Membership to RoSPA IART (Irish Advanced Rider Training) is separate to membership to RoSPA UK. Joining RoSPA IART gives you access to training in order to prepare for your RoSPA Advanced Riding test. Once you are ready to take your test, you then join RoSPA UK in order to book your test. To apply for a test please go to https://www.rospa.com/shop/products/advanced-driving-riding-test
Membership of our group, RoSPA IART, is basically divided into two types of members. Those that have passed a RoSPA test and those that have not taken a test yet. The latter are referred to as “associates”. Once an associate has taken and passed a RoSPA test, at bronze, silver or gold standard, they are encouraged to continue their motorcycle journey and train to become a tutor. Individuals who have obtained a RoSPA grade with another group may also join RoSPA IART.
Payment of an initial test fee, to RoSPA UK, includes membership of RoSPA UK for one year. Once a test is taken, and a grade obtained, the grading stands for three years after which another test must be taken in order to (hopefully!) maintain, or improve on your grade. The cost of the re-tests are included in the yearly subscription fee to RoSPA UK. In order to benefit from the free 3-yearly test, you must maintain your membership of RoSPA UK for those 3 years. Membership of RoSPA UK is renewed annually and is required if you are a tutor. The fee for RoSPA UK membership, as of time of writing, is £40. This is in addition to membership of RoSPA IART.
Once you have passed your test, membership of RoSPA IART is optional, however, for the small fee each year you gain access to monthly training rides, the network of tutors, and the regular meetings and training days held each year. However, for active RoSPA IART tutors, the membership fee for RoSPA IART is waived.
